What is CPR training?
CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which combines chest presses and rescue breaths in order to help resuscitate someone in cardiac arrest. It’s an emergency procedure that can be performed by a medical professional or a CPR-certified individual.
Why is CPR training important?
When it comes to knowing how to perform CPR — the more, the merrier. You never know when you’ll find yourself in a situation where someone urgently needs CPR. If you or someone nearby can help, that person has a much better chance of survival.
Why should lifeguards know how to perform CPR?
Lifeguards should be CPR-certified because of the chance that swimmers may need CPR. While on the job, lifeguards need to be ready to help any struggling swimmer or potential drowning victim — which means knowing how to resuscitate someone whose heart has stopped pumping blood.
Where to get CPR-trained?
We have one answer here: The American Heart Association. You can find certification classes in person or online. In addition to CPR training, The American Hear Association offers First Aid, Lifeguard and EMT certifications.
