Safety Tips for Swimming in the Pool During the Pandemic.
We’re getting a lot of questions about lifeguard and swimmer safety in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we don’t have all the answers, we can touch on pool safety. Some believe that chlorine can kill the coronavirus; others are being as cautious as possible. The bottom line is that you should try to do whatever you can to limit contact with others, but if you’re considering a visit to the pool this summer, read on to learn more about the safest and healthiest way to make it happen.
The virus is still a virus
Even though there is no evidence that the coronavirus can spread in pools, the virus is still a virus. If you’re standing next to someone in the pool and they cough, there’s a chance that they could spread viral droplets to you. Just because the chlorine can’t grow and maintain the virus (as far as we know) doesn’t mean you can’t still get infected or infect others if you’re not taking precautions.
Practice social distancing
No matter where you are or what you’re doing, one of the best ways to assure you’re doing your part to stop the spread is social distancing. Most pool facilities will have beach chairs spaced out, so it’s important you abide by this rule. And if you’re at a pool that isn’t practicing social distancing, voice your concern to the lifeguard or pool manager.
Sanitize
Another thing that pools should be doing right now is sanitizing and deep-cleaning regularly. Most pools clean equipment hourly. That being said, you can never be too safe. Bring your own bottle of hand sanitizer 
or cleaning wipes so that you can wipe down your area before and after being at the pool.
